If you own a home in California, or own rental property, soon you will be required to install carbon monoxide detectors, under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger which is aimed at preventing deaths and injuries caused by poisoning from the deadly gas, which is colorless and odorless.

Up to 40 California residents die each year from carbon monoxide poisoning.The California Air Resources Board says an average of 30 to 40 “avoidable deaths” occur in California each year because of unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning.
